When last did you see a musician with telephone and harmonica in one hand, a guitar under his arm, stomp box at his feet, and the occasional makeshift glass slider from the audience? A lot of people think a solo act isn't always as exciting as a big band on an even bigger stage. But that's not what happened in Potchefstroom on Saturday night.
An intimate scene was set at the old Snowflake factory with Clark as the headliner. Most of us know Clark, with his distinctive voice, as a matchless blues marvel, but he has more up his sleeves than we expected. Recently Clark started fiddling around with his loop station, stomp box, harmonica, shaker, telephone, voice and acoustic guitar and show after show his set transformed into a one-man masterpiece. Blueslovers, not to worry, his contemporary style stems from his first love – the blues.
That said, Gerald blew the audience away with his experimental solo performance on Saturday evening. The crowd was entertained with his stories that inspired his songs and they were left in awe with his technical skills, his musical abilities, and the soul he puts into every beat. His show was so well received, he was asked to perform with one of the local acts, Wellhungarian Blues Band, the following night at the airbase – with who he might bring a special evening show to Aardklop this year.
There are many exciting things you can expect from this talented man. He is currently on tour in the north – make sure to catch him in and around your hometown. And the best news off all, his 4th album and a new daring music video will be released early November. We can't wait Mr. Clark!
